The first installment of Ch.I.M.P. or Chicago Improvising Musicians Pool.
Each month, 4d20 is rolled to determine the musicians of a 4 piece band. The first musician selected for November 2015 was drummer Mike Garcia, then another drummer Robert Gonzalez was selected next. Then bassist Michael Augustin was rolled, and to round out the first lineup multi-instrumentalist Ben Schreiner was selected, and he opted to play synthesizers for this (he is also a bassist, drummer, and vocalist).
On the day of the recording, 11/17/15, Robert had to back out due to work obligations (overtime), so organizer and producer George Bowles stepped in on percussion (wavedrums, shaker, triangle, and other percussion) as well as on analog synth on some tracks.
For the first session, story dice were rolled (instead of numbers, there are symbols/images of things to be interpreted). Each musician was given an attribute (this time it was hand, moon, time, and magnet) and a song to lead. The last song was actually track 3, which differed from the other tracks: the remaining 5 dice of the 9 story dice set were rolled, determining different movements of the song. There were no song leaders here, except George decided when the movements ended and began.
