Chicago Improvising Musicians Pool is a randomly generated lineup of free improv and jazz musicians creating music spontaneously. A group of people meeting for the first time and perhaps recording together as a group for the last time.
There were 3 firsts for this installment of the 'pool:
-This was the first live show for a Ch.I.M.P. lineup, the 5th iteration being recorded live in front of an audience of improvised jazz and experimental music fans.
-due to some cancellations and scheduling chaos, this was the first lineup to have more than 4 people, with 5 musicians being involved for the live show and recording.
-it was the first time the improvised movements were orchestrated through the use of 32 different art cards as signifiers of starting new measures as well as interpreting abstract artwork into sound. A form of synaesthetic art therapy?
